Barton Springs Pool

Within Zilker Park's 358 acres lies one of the crown jewels of Austin - Barton Springs Pool. The pool itself measures three acres in size and is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, ideal for year-round swimming. No Reservation is Required. Only open Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 8 am - 10 pm. No entry pass is needed from 9 pm - 10 pm on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Swim at your own risk hours are daily from 5 AM - 8 AM and do not require an entry pass. Entry passes are required for Barton Springs after 8 am on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Lady Bird Lake Hike-and-Bike Trail

10 miles of trails border Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin and serve as a social hub for runners, walkers, and cyclists. A memorial at Auditorium Shores honors the late bluesman Stevie Ray Vaughan. The Ann and Roy Butler Pedestrian Bridge crosses Lady Bird Lake between W. Cesar Chavez St. and W. Riverside Dr.

Luckily, the trail is open from 5 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily, so you can arrive early to claim a spot for the scenic show. Austin Bats @ Congress Avenue Bridge

Plan your trip to see America's most famous bats! The best predictor of spectacular, early emergences is hot, dry weather. Great viewing opportunities are most likely during spring migration from mid-March to mid-April and as bat pups are learning to fly in late July, continuing through August. Emergences will occur every night during spring and summer, normally within 30 minutes of sundown, before in hot, dry weather, but up to 40 minutes after in cooler, damp weather.

Zilker Metropolitan Park

Zilker Park is a 361-acre park nestled in the heart of downtown, right off Lady Bird Lake. The park was founded in 1917 and is home to picnic facilities, bike/canoe rentals, a disc golf course, a large playground for children, the Zilker Zephyr train, and Barton Springs Pool, an urban oasis where swimmers plunge into 68-degree, spring-fed waters. The park is also the host to great events like the Austin City Limits Music Festival and the Austin Kite Festival.
